Over the last four years I have had the pleasure of working with Craig and his team at Rockscape Design on projects on the outer islands and shores of Georgian Bay and the major Muskoka Lakes.

Working with Craig and his team, our projects have benefited from their solid project management and decision-making skills. Another key to their ongoing success is their experience, passion and expertise in working with the local terrain, rock and native landscape. They work effectively, often with many other building contractors onsite, and strive to get the job completed efficiently, with little wasted effort and resources. They not only meet, but routinely exceed the clients' expectations.

The Rockscape  team is collaborative. They bring added value to a project due to their ability to understand the intent of the design concept. Due to time and distance, the clients and/or the landscape architect cannot always be present. It is comforting to know, that one can rely on Craig and his people to make immediate and critical decisions that will affect the project outcome in a positive way. In Muskoka, or on an outer island in Georgian Bay, this is vital to the success of any landscape project.

Tamarack has been doing business with Rockscape since 2002.  At that point in our construction cycle, we would go through a rigorous bidding process with 2 to 3 landscape companies and award the work to either the low bidder or the most cost and time effective sub trade.  We learned that as the landscapes were installed, the design drawings were quite often set aside so that the landscape contractor could more accurately install a fantastic landscape that suited the individual characteristics of each lakefront property.  Rockscape, with it’s own design staff and estimating ability was able to ‘tweak’ the landscape design, present the cost implications to the customer in an effective way and execute the work without extensive Project Management from Tamarack’s staff.  Over the years and the dozens of landscapes we have now performed together, it has resulted in a mutual trust between the two companies to the point that Rockscape is now our preferred bid and we base our landscape contracts on installed unit rates (flagstone, landscape boulder, plantings, etc.) that have the flexibility for Rockscape to design and create the more fantastic landscapes we have ever jointly been involved with.  The results speak for themselves……

Dear Craig,

Last Fall Craig Rose and his team from Rockscape Design completed quite a large landscaping project at our Island out from Parry Sound in Georgian Bay. 

Sometimes things move slowly at ‘The Bay’ but not with Rockscape.  Craig Rose and his highly professional team completed the project on time and on budget and the quality of work and materials was absolutely excellent.  Importantly, the site was always maintained in a neat and orderly state and the workers were a pleasure to have on the island.

My wife Shari and I have no hesitation in providing Rockscape Design with a flat out positive recommendation.  We would use Rockscape again in a heartbeat.

Dear Craig and Jen,

As you know, we were very pleased with the outcome of Rockscape’s landscaping project completed at our cottage last summer.  It was a pleasure to work with you both, and all your staff.  Everyone involved was always very professional, friendly and took extra care at the end of each day to make sure equipment was put away and the site was tidy.  Of course, we hold extra appreciation and respect for Jon, not only in terms of his landscaping talents, expertise and creativity, but his work ethic and demeanor as well.  We truly value his contributions on all aspects of our project.

Our cottage property is a natural granite outcropping on Lake Rosseau.  It’s need for functionality and our desire to have it blend with it’s natural surroundings meant many challenges for Rockscape Design.  Rockscape however, met all these challenges head on with incredible attention to detail and a unique ability to really listen to us, the client. In addition to the staff’s professionalism, their ability to manipulate rock into flowing walkways and stunning staircases truly impressed all involved.  With our cottage under construction the landscaping took place in a hectic work environment.  Rockscape staff worked diligently and often went the extra distance to give us an enjoyable outdoor living space.
