Rockscape Design believes that in order to have an excellent finished landscape construction project you need to start with a design.
We have two landscape designers on staff with over 15 years experience between them. Not to mention the 25 years plus of experience from owner/project manager Craig Rose. We offer creative and functional solutions for all landscape challenges such as the post-construction phase or renovating an existing landscape. The design process begins when we meet the client and listen to their needs and wishes for the landscape.
Our landscape designers offer ideas and suggestions while collaborating with the home owner to achieve their overall vision. We want to know where they like to view the sunset from, do they like to sit around a fire pit on a starry night or do they do a lot of entertaining? All of this helps to develop the right landscape design for the home owner and their property. It is also important to Rockscape Design that while ensuring the clients’ design wishes are met we still maintain and respect Muskoka’s natural beauty.
Our Muskoka landscape designs incorporate local granite steps, flagstone, natural boulders and largely native plant material to achieve a finished landscape that blends with its natural Muskoka surroundings.
As well as offering our in-house landscape design service Rockscape Design also works with designs from landscape architects. In the recent past we have collaborated on and built 11 extraordinary landscapes in conjunction with two different landscape architects.
Before the actual construction of the landscape takes place, whether it is on an island or mainland, Rockscape Design usually contacts an arborist to deal with any tree issues like removals or dead limbing. The next step is to coordinate with any other trades onsite in order to share space and keep the job moving. We also look at the drainage patterns of the site and plan ways to get large machinery on-site without damaging the natural Muskoka surroundings. Rockscape Design ensures that existing trees are not harmed by changes in the surrounding soil depth or root compaction. From here our specialized construction crews create the landscape.
Presently we have four construction crews. Our staff are responsible for creating what we call the “hardscape”. This includes granite steps, flagstone and natural boulders for fire pits, accent or slope stabilization. After the hardscape we bring in our “softscape” crews. Plant material and mulch add the finishing touches to all of our landscapes.
Rockscape Design also offers an after care program to our clients. Our Landscape/Horticultural Technicians will weed, cultivate, prune and/or generally keep your landscape looking great long after the machines have left. Our maintenance services are customer specific offering as much or as little help as the home owner wants.
